Wow! Where has, the time gone? I know I know- everyone is saying that as we are closing in on the first week of January.  But honestly, I cannot believe that 2016 has come to an end.

2016 was a BIG year for me and my family. There were a few milestone birthday celebrations and my life long dream of being an entrepreneur became reality with the launch of JDN Center for Children.

It seems like just a few days ago, I was putting the final touches on my business plan and waiting, holding my breath to see if my dream would become my reality.  In April, I received confirmation that JDN Center for Children was a go!! I remember the flood of emotions; the excitement, the relief, and the worry. What was I thinking…I knew exactly what I was thinking and I spent all spring and summer putting my business plan into action. Finalizing every detail and planning a successful launch.

My summer was not filled completely with work. I was able to enjoy something I didn’t think was possible. I spent the entire summer with my boys!  As a working Mom, I thought the days of spending time at the beach during the week with my children was reserved only for my annual 2-week summer vacation. This summer that changed. At the end of June when school was out, my husband and I moved our family to our “Summer Home” (a seasonal trailer at McCullough’s Landing).  This was the best decision we have ever made as a family! What an experience. Our boys had the chance to be exactly what they are- Boys. Loud, Dirty, and Silly and I was there to take it all in. Before I opened JDN Center for Children I was blessed with a career that allowed me to work from home. Therefore, this made living at the trailer possible. I started my work day with coffee in hand sitting on the deck. A summer to remember for sure!

The summer passed just a quickly as the entire year and before I knew it, it was time to go back to school and open a business. In September, we launched JDN Center for Children with HUGE success! Our Grand Opening was a day filled with face painting, fire trucks and tours of our center. We were thrilled to welcome over 50 old, new, and familiar faces who came out to support us that day. Since the Grand Opening we have been running! We have experienced so many successes in the last few months of 2016 it is truly humbling.

Although the fall was just as busy as the winter, spring, and summer we were able to make a lot of wonderful memories with our family. In August, my Dad had his 65th Birthday. We celebrated with a party of family and friends. My oldest son Jason moved into double digits in November and is now a 10-year-old and I moved into a new decade when I had my 40th Birthday in December.

2016 was a BIG year for me and my family these are 5 things I will always be grateful to 2016 for:

  1. A summer watching my boys enjoy who they are
  2. Proof that hard work pays off
  3. Love and support of family & friends
  4. A community that cares
  5. Our clients- present and future

They say that with every ending there is a beginning. I say, Hello 2017 – I cannot wait to see where you will take me!
